The Wilderness Foundation are working with Children & Learning, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Care Management 16+ Team, and Southend Community Adult College to support 10 young people who are deemed vulnerable and in the process of leaving care. Apprenticeships and work placements are being offered through Hertfordshire Careers Service.
We’re looking to recruit and train volunteer mentors drawn from the Southend community and surrounds, to support these young people and make a  difference, as many have experienced some of the toughest experiences in their young lives. You will be offered regular supervision and support.
Mentoring would take place in the Southend area.   Mentors receive accredited training and need to be available for training on the 23rd March 2013, 6th April and 13th April 2013.
We ask for a commitment of up to one-two hours a week of your time, with the occasional Saturday and one weekend of camping out facilitated and managed by our professional staff team. The mentoring programme will last for five months.
Appointment is subject to a written application and formal interview process.   References will be checked and an Enhanced CRB enquiry made.
