The Wilderness Foundation UK  and Strutt & Parker Farms hosted its last community tree planting day this weekend. Over 1000 trees were planted in the most successful tree planting day ever with people turning up all day long despite the severe weather.
Around 70 people turned up, with a mix of ages and abilities, despite the cold wet weather. We also had members of Geocaching.com and British Naturalist’s Association including Roger Tabor to contribute to the final tree planting. We have almost finished planting the new ‘Diamond’ wood
The woodland forms part of the  ‘Chatham Green Project’; a conservation and education project focusing on balancing the 21st century needs of farming, nature and communities. This education programme will host  a living classroom of science and sustainability options which is open to schools and will form a valuable part of the national curriculum.
We are very grateful to all the people who helped us and showed an interest in our project over the last five months. We are thankful to local community, schools, colleges and professionals who have helped to plant the jubilee woods in Chatham Green.
