Our next TurnAround programme will begin in March and we are looking for the next group of young people who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives.
TurnAround is a six month self-development and employability programme for young people aged from 15 to 21 years old. Participants are usually struggling with different areas of their lives such as having low self-esteem and confidence, mental health problems, failure to attend school, youth offending, dysfunctional family backgrounds, domestic violence, abuse, unhealthy relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, bullying, low aspirations, in Care and challenging behaviour.
TurnAround uses wilderness therapy, challenging outdoor experiences and educational experiences, self-development workshops, social evenings, one-on-one therapeutic youth work sessions and mentoring to enable young people to overcome their challenges and take control of their lives. Throughout the programme there will be the opportunity for the young person to access further support and counselling, if necessary.
We support each young person with their own individual needs which is what makes the project a success. TurnAround is now in its 10th year and to date 83% of graduates are engaged with education or employment by the end of the project.
Referrals are now open and a TurnAround Taster Day will be held on Saturday 10th March from 1pm to 4pm at Wilderness Foundation, which will mark the beginning of the programme.
