The people of Britain (and beyond!) have been busily celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in recent weeks. As part of the celebrations of this historic occasion, 6,000,000 trees are going to be planted across the UK. As part of this, there will be 60 special ‘Diamond’ woodlands created.
The Wilderness Foundation UK, working in partnership with the Woodland Trust and Strutt and Parker (Farms) has the opportunity to create four large woodlands that will leave a lasting natural legacy for local communities. Due to our wider initiative “The Chatham Green Project” these new woods have been awarded Diamond status – an honour bestowed on just 60 new woods being created in the UK. We will start planting these historic new woodlands in November 2012 and must complete them by March 2013.
We have four locations for tree planting each suitable for different visitors:
- CHATHAM GREEN, ESSEX (CM3 3FE) – OUR FLAGSHIP EDUCATION SITE
- MONKS ELEIGH, SUFFOLK (IP7 7QQ)
- BRETTENHAM, SUFFOLK (IP7 7PE)
- OLD PARK FARM, ESSEX (CM3 1LN)
