The Chatham Green Project was delighted to welcome to the farm families from the Essex Children’s Burns Club on Sunday 29th March for a day of food and farming fun! Battered but not beaten by the awful weather, we explored the farm looking for the first signs of Spring and finding out more about where food comes from and what goes into making the food we eat.
Our planned invertebrate survey (minibeast hunting!) and tree planting session had to be postponed due to the pouring rain, but falling back to our nice warm Education Centre we enjoyed a session of craft work making things we had seen out on our walk around the farm.
After a picnic lunch (indoor style) we were joined by Gemma’s Farm so the children could meet some farm animals – including four day old duck and hen chicks and a full of life leaping baby lamb!
As well as catering for educational groups from schools, the Chatham Green Project is able to accommodate and facilitate sessions for a variety of groups interested in food, farming and the countryside. If you would like us to provide a unique and special day out in the Essex countryside for your group, then please do get in touch.
