Roger Tabor – TV presenter, cat expert and chairman of the British Naturalists’ Association visited the ‘Chatham Green Project’ on the 31st December 2012 to contribute to our new Diamond Jubilee Wood.
Roger met with staff from the Wilderness Foundation UK’s ‘Chatham Green Project’ and together they planted 15 Small-leaved Lime (Tilia cordata).
Roger was very impressed with our aim of trying to create a balance between farming, nature and people and he supports the view that there is a need to reconnect a wide range of people to nature through projects such as this.
Small-leaved lime is a nationally important species which has declined due to climate change and is now only present in a few woods in Essex. 5% of our Diamond Jubilee woodland will be Tilia cordata (almost 600 trees!).
