Royal Highland Show 2011Come and see us at the Royal Highland Show between Thursday 19th and Sunday 22nd June. You can find us in the Royal Highland Education Trust tent where a range of activities for schools and young people are being put on. We are manning a stand to promote the work of the charity across Scotland but more specifically the youth engagement programme Imbewu Scotland.

Across the four days our staff team will be laying on a number of activities that visitors can try their hand at, including the “Leave No Trace Team Challenge”.  Teams will travel from start to finish along a course where they will be presented with various Leave No Trace scenarios.   To continue on their journey, they must choose the right answer and head on to the right path.  On completion of the challenge each participant will be awarded a Leave No Trace Awareness Certificate.   Our activities are being delivered in conjunction with the Royal Highland Education Trust.leave no trace logo
Leave No Trace is a set of principles of how we spend time in the outdoors, building in respect for people, nature and the landscape and the training is hopefully a bit like riding a bicycle – once you know how to do it, it is a skill that stays with you for life.
The Wilderness Foundation staff are all Leave No Trace trainers and our head office is a centre for Leave No Trace where we engage a wide audience from toddlers to business executives in the principles.
All Imbewu Scotland students, drawn from a wide range of Scottish schools and working with a range of estates, are trained in Leave No Trace and gain certificates on graduation from the project.
Imbewu Scotland is partnered by Scottish Land & Estates and funded by a range of sponsors including Scottish Natural Heritage, Cairn Energy, The MacRobert Trust, Nucleus Financial Services, The Dulverton Trust amongst others.
