N.B.
The John Muir Trust is a conservation charity dedicated to protecting and enhancing wild places. We work to defend wild land, rewild habitats and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to connect with wild places.
The Trust takes its name and inspiration from naturalist, writer, adventurer, explorer and campaigner John Muir (1838-1914). Muir was passionate about wild places. He explored them, wrote about them and campaigned to protect them, helping people to understand the importance of wildness. He saved the world-famous Yosemite Valley in the United States from exploitation and destruction, playing an instrumental role in the creation of the world’s first national park system.
