#givingtuesday is the day to do good stuff for charity

#givingtuesday arrived in the UK in 2014. Since then, the day has gone on to become one of Britain’s biggest days for charities, raising millions of pounds for good causes.

This year, #givingtuesday falls on Tuesday 28th November – the Tuesday following the widely recognised shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  It’s a chance for people to come together and make a positive impact on social and environmental issues, either by donating, or raising funds and giving time to a range of activities that promote the work of good causes.
We’re asking you to support the Wilderness Foundation UK this #givingtuesday
Every year, the Wilderness Foundation brings thousands of people into  wilderness. We do so not just to benefit the individuals—though the benefits are great.
We help people to experience wilderness because there is no better way to move them to preserve wild spaces for the future.
When they do, then our children’s children will also be able to experience the positive power of nature to change lives.

We can only deliver this work with the support of people like you
There are lots of ways you can get involved.   We always need volunteers and right now it would be fantastic to have some help with fundraising.   Each year we need to raise £150,000 to maintain the charity.   Our target right now is £70,000 that we need to raise for the year ahead.   That’s a big goal for a small team – but we can do it together.
We also have opportunities for people to be hands-on in the outdoors, growing food, caring for our hedgerows, meadows and woodland and volunteer mentors make a huge impact on the lives of the children we work with, by visiting them at school or in the community and providing a stable adult presence in their life.
And donations are always needed and put to good use.   If you can support our work through a one off or regular donation then we can promise you we will put that money to good use.    84% of the vulnerable and disadvantaged teens we work with go on to enter full time education, or enter the world or work – a far off hope when we met them, but something that becomes within reach and completely achievable with our – and your – support.
Whatever you choose to do to help the Wilderness Foundation UK this #givingtuesday will make a difference.   Just knowing that we are in people’s minds gives us an extra boost of energy, so we can keep delivering and helping young people’s wellbeing and deposit development.    Thanks for being part of that.
