Over 200 students from both Otley College in Suffolk and Writtle College in Essex have participated in the Diamond Jubilee Woods project this winter.
During this winter, 150 Animal Care and Countryside (FE) students from Writtle College braved the cold to plant around 2,000 trees at the Chatham Green Project. During their visit they participated in activities looking at how the farming cycle on a wheat farm works, how this interacts with nature’s cycle and what we are doing on our farm to minimize any conflicts.

Also this winter, 75 Agriculture, Horticulture and Arboriculture (FE) students from Otley College planted an astonishing 2,200 trees over at the Diamond Jubilee Site in Brettenham, Suffolk. During the visit, the students learned about the England Woodland Grant Scheme and how to plan a woodland. The students demonstrated valuable team work and leadership skills and had the opportunity to ask farming and conservation experts questions about the project.
