On the 16th April, the Wilderness Foundation visited Ford End Primary School to teach their pupils about the 7 ‘Leave No Trace’ principles.
The whole school took part in an interactive assembly where they were introduced to the 7 principles and asked to help apply them to various situations.
Later on in the day, one class spent an hour focused in on Principle #3 – Dispose of Waste Properly. For this activity, several bags of (clean!) rubbish were thrown around the schools pristine play area. Pupils had to collect the rubbish and then sort it into the order they thought it would decompose in. The length of time some rubbish would take to decompose was surprising and the children quickly identified which items they would definitely never take on camping trips!
