Wilderness Foundation Safety Information

Our safety record speaks for itself. Over the course of 60 years, the Wilderness Leadership School has taken over 60,000 people on trail in South Africa and never had a trailist hurt by an animal.

Our partners and providers in South Africa, the Wilderness Leadership School, accompany groups at all times in South Africa and have over 50 years’ of experience dealing with the size and age ranges of our groups. They have our full trust in dealing with any emergencies and maintaining a safe and inspirational experience for students and staff alike.

Under health and safety legislation, the Wilderness Foundation UK Ltd. has a duty to ensure the health and safety of those who participate in activities. We also have a duty to ensure that no one else is harmed as a result of those activities. We carry out detailed risk assessments for all activities and provide support to Expedition Leaders who need to prepare an information pack for visit approval prior to booking. We also contribute to your pre-departure planning.

During trips, we provide a 24 hour emergency telephone support number. In the event of an incident either at home or overseas, clients can immediately receive the information that they need or we can maintain contact with the situation on the ground.

As an organiser, the Wilderness Foundation UK Ltd has Public Liability Insurance of £10 million and complies with all local legislation.
